Account Clerk

  • Full-time position – M-F 8:30 am – 4:30 pm under direction of the Tax Collector.  Responsibilities include processing property tax and miscellaneous revenue payments, preparing deposits, and reconciliation of same. Prepare and help with property tax billings. Correspond with residents about their property tax account and New Jersey State property tax relief programs. Successful candidate must be detail oriented, organized, highly motivated, with a strong work ethic. Knowledge of Edmunds tax software, excel and word is a plus.  One-year governmental Tax Collection experience preferred. Required to attend and pass Principles of Municipal Tax Collection I & II and training as needed, successfully pass a six month probation period, successfully pass a thorough criminal history and background check. Account Clerk

The Borough of Paramus (Bergen County) is accepting applications for the full-time Senior Finance Account Clerk position in the Finance/Tax Collector Department. Hours are M-F 8:30 am – 4:30 pm under the direction of the CFO/Tax Collector.  Duties include collection of Taxes, Sewer, and miscellaneous revenues. This includes assisting with receipt, deposit, reconciliation and recording of payments received to the appropriate account ledgers, tax liens and/or delinquent ledgers. Assisting with preparation and mailing of tax bills and correspondence, as well as, preparation and conduct of the annual Tax sale. Additional duties include providing office support and general clerical duties including answering phones, filing, receiving & processing purchase orders, and other related duties. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for this position, along with the ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively in a high activity work environment. Candidate must be customer service oriented and possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, officials, and the general public. Preferred applicants will have proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, or the ability to learn same. Prior Tax Collector’s Office experience preferred. Experience with Edmunds a plus. Tax Clerk

The Township of Jefferson (Morris County)                                                                                         is currently seeking a full time clerk to work in the Tax Collection Department.  Major responsibilities include daily processing of utility and property tax payments as well as receipts from municipal departments, preparation of respective deposits and reports including monthly reconciliation of same, communication with residents about New Jersey State property tax relief programs. Tax & Utility Collector

TAX & UTILITY COLLECTOR – Mountain Lakes, Morris County (Full-Time).  Candidate must possess a valid CTC Certificate issued by the NJ Dept. of Community Affairs, with a preferred minimum of 3-5 years’ experience.

Duties include, but not limited to, all statutory requirements of billing, collection, enforcement, and reporting for both tax and utilities.  Additional duties include tax judgments, overpayments, and the annual tax sale as well as assisting residents with inquiries in addition to various ad-hoc responsibilities.  Must also consult with Chief Financial officer and Municipal Auditor to maintain accounting and reporting procedures and all other tax and water billing related functions. The Borough has approximately 1500 line items with a tax levy of approximately $36 million.

Candidate must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational, computer and communication skills. Knowledge of the Edmunds software along with Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
