TAX COLLECTOR

Tax Collector

The Township of Plainsboro (Middlesex County( seeks a certified Tax Collector for a NJ municipality. Oversee all tax collection functions, including billing, payments, and tax sales. Ensure accurate recordkeeping and manage tax relief programs. Experience with PILOT program, prepare tax sales, and manage bill distribution. Supervise staff, interpret tax laws, and provide support to the Tax Assessor's office. Requires a NJ Tax Collector license, college degree (preferred), 5+ years' tax collection experience (with 1+ year supervisory experience), strong knowledge of NJ tax statutes/regulations, and proficiency in tax collection software (Edmunds preferred). Tax Collector

CITY OF SALEM, ( SALEM COUNT)  NJ. Population 5,000 - Budget approx. $12M is seeking an organized, experienced professional, with a background in Municipal Government for the position of Tax Collector. Interested applicants must possess a Municipal Tax Collector Certification and have at least two years of experience in a New Jersey municipal collector’s office. A college degree in finance or accounting is also a plus. The Tax Collector shall be responsible for lien enforcement, tax collecting, tax billing and reporting, in addition to all of the duties required by NJ law.  The position is full time with benefits and salary range is $65,000 to $75,000. Tax & Utility Collector

The Borough of Avalon (Cape May County) is seeking to fill a part time position of Tax and Utilities Clerk.  It is anticipated that this position would begin in June 2024 and will include a work schedule of no more than 24 hours per week.  The direct supervisor shall be the Tax Collector; the Tax Collector’s Office is supervised by the Director of Revenue and Finance.

The qualified candidate shall have strong skills in mathematics, computer programs, and customer service.  The candidate shall also possess a high school diploma, a valid New Jersey Driver’s License, and some experience with the operations of a municipal government and/or tax office is preferred.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Assist the Tax and Utilities Collector’s office in day-to-day operations, which shall include but are not limited to, answering queries from the public service (in-person, electronic, and via phone) regarding taxes and utility timely preparation and mailing of tax and utility bills, process tax and utility payments, assist with accurate and appropriate accounting and recording procedures as directed by state statute, assist the office with the receipt, reconciliation, deposit, and recording of all cash received to special account, tax lien, foreclosed property, and delinquent ledgers, assist in the maintenance of accurate listing of all unpaid tax and utility items, and maintain essential records and files.
