Deputy Tax Collector

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP (Atlantic County)  has an immediate opening and is seeking a full time Deputy Tax Collector. Qualified candidates must possess a current Certified Tax Collector’s Certificate issued by the DCA, excellent communication, organizational and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and strong supervisory skills. Knowledge of Edmunds is preferred. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; Billing, collections, reporting and enforcement of taxes, special assessments and municipal service fees. Must have experience with liens, tax sales, foreclosure and bankruptcies. A minimum of 2 years experience as a deputy is preferred. ASSISTANT TREASURER - RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, (Morris County). Randolph Township is accepting applications for an Assistant Treasurer. The position is full-time and responsibilities include but are not limited to: processing tax, water and sewer payments along with posting and depositing cash receipts daily, managing accounts receivable for shared services, monthly revenue reconciliations. The ideal candidate would be a highly motivated self-starter, able to learn quickly, highly organized, detail-oriented and professional when dealing with the public.  A degree in accounting, experience in MSI finance system as well as prior experience working in municipal government is preferred. Hillsborough Township (Somerset County) is seeking a full-time, experienced municipal finance professional to serve at Chief Financial Officer, who will be responsible for all statutory financial activities and operations.  Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as ability to multi-task.  This position oversees a staff of 3.  Candidates should have either a New Jersey CMFO license, or be currently enrolled in the Rutger’s CMFO program, with anticipating of obtaining the CMFO license in no more than 2 years.  Experience with Edmund’s Financial Software a must.  Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Municipal Accountant

Bowman and Company LLP is currently looking for an experienced Municipal Accountant to join us with a strong audit background and analytical skills to support accounting functions for our municipal clients.
The ideal candidate for this position would be someone with experience as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) or someone looking to transition from auditing to governmental accounting with five or more years’ experience. Applicants must be organized, efficient, and able to speak professional to team and clients. Preferably this candidate will be able to easily manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee financial operations for clients such as reconciliations, grant accounts, debt analysis, finance-related ordinances, Accounts Payable/Receivable, and escrow accounts.
  • Budget preparation for clients
  • Reviewing expenditures for compliance
  • Complete Annual Financial Statements, Annual Debt Statements and Annual Audits by State Mandated due dates.
  • Prepare and oversee profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow management.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years’ experience in public accounting
  • Prior experience as a CFO preferred
  • CPA required, RMA preferred
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Ability to travel and interact with clients
  • Ability to inspire confidence and create trust

Tax Clerk

Tax Clerk- Princeton (Mercer County) Finance Department - Reports to the Chief Finance Officer/ Tax Collector in every aspect except statutory and final decisions regarding Tax and Finance Departments.  Position requires knowledge of New Jersey Tax Collection laws and familiarization with accounting procedures to comply with these laws. Report trouble to Tax Collector, such as tax deficiencies or errors that are not correct. Must have experience working in a Tax office; some coursework for tax collection would be a plus. Knowledge of Tax Laws and experience with First Byte preferable.  Process of payments, in person or by mail, by receiving, recording and depositing of receipts according to prescribed methods. Process online payments, adjust if needed. Research overpayments/duplicate payments and start process of refunds. Communicate effectively with residents via telephone, email, fax and in person.
