Tax Collector Part Time

Part-Time Tax Collector - Ramsey (Bergen County)  is seeking qualified applicants for part-time experienced Tax Collector.  Ramsey has roughly 5500 taxable line items. The successful candidate should have strong knowledge in all aspects of the Tax Collection functions such as billing, collections, liens and redemptions, reconciling cash receipts, tax court judgements and all other related duties. Must hold a NJ Tax Collector License. Must have experience with Edmunds software. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Acts as liaison between New Jersey's municipal tax collectors and the state. (Knowledge of all implementations of N.J.S.A. Statutes 54:4 through 54:5) Provide input for N.J.S.A. state statute updates and new legislation concerning property tax collection. Meet with other State officials whenever there is new legislation proposed that would impact property tax collection. Prepares, proctors, and scores the examinations for certification of municipal tax collectors. Meet with prospective collectors to review the test if they did not pass. Provides consultative assistance to municipal tax collectors and their staff in all phases of the tax collection process including billing, receipt of payments, detailed accounting procedures, enforcement of payments, preparation of tax sales, redemption of lien calculations, and preparation of foreclosure list. Acts as the certified tax collector in municipalities in the event of a vacancy until a certified tax collector is appointed. Work with Division of Taxation and IT to apply Homestead Benefit Credit to eligible property owners’ tax bills, yearly or bi-yearly. Update Tax Collection Vendor information yearly or bi-yearly. Resolve issues arising with tax collectors and property owners regarding this program.
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of experience as a Certified Tax Collector.
NOTE: A Master's Degree in Political Science, Government, Public Administration, or a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the general experience.
NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional experience as indicated on a year-for-year basis. 
LICENSE: Appointee will be required to possess a Tax Collector Certificate valid in the State of New Jersey.
Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

Cashier - Full Time

TOWNSHIP OF MIDDLETOWN (Monmouth County) = The Tax Collection Division of the Finance Department will be recruiting for two (2) Full-time Cashiers, Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm. Applicants must have excellent communication, organizational and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Candidates must have strong customer service skills and money handling experience. Candidates must be motivated and detail oriented to work under the direction of the Tax Collector The duties of the position include but are not limited to the collection of tax/revenue payments, reconciliation of cash receipts, utilizing a cash register and making change, maintenance of records and files, and posting items to accounts. Other duties include heavy contact with the public both in person and on telephone. Clerk for Tax Collectors Office

The TOWNSHIP OF CARNEYS POINT (Salem County)  is seeking a qualified individual to fill a part time vacancy within the Tax Collectors’ Office. This individual would work under the direction of the Tax Collector and assist in the reporting, billing, collection, and enforcement of annual property tax. The candidate should possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills with previous municipal government experience a plus. Excellent written, verbal, and computer skills, including Microsoft Office, are required. Knowledge of the Edmunds software is also desired but not required.
