Will be required to take the State and Rutgers University recognized Principles of Municipal Tax Collection I and II courses.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to, processing tax payments, assisting with inquiries, tax sale, billing and other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate must be well organized, detail oriented, accurate, have good verbal and written skills and be able to work well with the public. Responsibilities will include daily deposits, tax billing and collections, and additional duties to be determined by the Finance Officer. Experience with Edmunds, all relevant Microsoft applications, and municipal government finance is preferred. TOWN OF PHILLIPSBURG (Warren County) ACCOUNT CLERK / CASHIER reporting to the Tax Collection Department. This individual will be responsible for; computing, classifying, verifying, and recording numerical data and the reconciliation of accounts, records and documents to keep sets of financial records complete.  Additionally involved in the receipt and disbursement of money, answers routine inquiries, issue receipts and post, bill and maintain accounts.
Qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience in clerical work.
              Knowledge of;
  • Office methods, practices and equipment in keeping financial and/or other records.
  • Arithmetic computation such as discount and interest and of how to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
  • Ability to deal courteously with the public.
  • Ability to maintain records and files.
This position is a full time position and will pay in the range of $41,000

TAX COLLECTOR
     Certified Tax Collector/Water-Sewer Collector
CERTIFIED TAX COLLECTOR/WATER-SEWER COLLECTOR (Full-Time) – BOROUGH OF FRANKLIN (Sussex County) – is seeking a full-time NJ Certified Tax Collector to perform all statutory duties of Certified Tax Collector and Water-Sewer Collector.  1800+ line items. Performing the work involved in billing/collecting of both property taxes and water-sewer, serves as Tax Search Officer and does related work as required. Thorough knowledge of municipal tax collection laws, practices and procedures required. Must possess strong interpersonal skills necessary for daily contact with the public. Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of MSI tax and utility software preferred. Other duties include tax sales, lien redemptions, quarterly delinquent notices for both tax and water-sewer, appeals, replying to OPRA requests and preparing resolutions. The successful candidate must have 5 year’s experience as a Certified Tax Collector or role as an assistant Tax Collector.
