Assistant Tax Collector ASSISTANT MUNICIPAL TAX COLLECTOR – TOWNSHIP OF OLD BRIDGE (Middlesex) - Under direction of Director of Finance, assist in the administration of the Tax Collector’s office and assumes the duties of the Tax Collector in his/her absence; Supervises all personnel assigned to the Division of Tax Collection in conjunction with the Tax Collector and Director of Finance and practices proper receipt, reconciliation, deposit and recording of all cash received; Assist the Tax Collector in developing administrative procedures for dealing with delinquent accounts, maintaining proper records, conducting tax sales, delivering certificate of sales, distribution of notifications, preparation and mailings of final tax bills and consulting with the Tax Assessor, Finance Director and Business Administrator regarding information outlined on tax bills and information regarding tax appeals. Minimum Requirements: Graduation from an accredited College or University with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field and valid Tax Collector’s certificate or working toward certificate, which must be received within one (1) year of appointment; At least one (1) year full time municipal tax collection experience; Strong organizational and communication skills as well as thorough knowledge of the municipal tax collection statutory laws and practices including tax sale procedures, lien redemptions, monthly reports, quarterly delinquent notices, State Tax Court Judgements, County Board Tax Judgements, replying to OPRA related request and preparing resolutions; Ability to interact with the public in a professional and proficient manner. Assistant Tax Collector ASSISTANT MUNICIPAL TAX COLLECTOR – The TOWNSHIP OF BRICK (Ocean) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced municipal tax professional to assist in the administration of the Tax Collector’s Office. Responsibilities include assisting with preparation of tax sale and foreclosures, county updates, MOD IV changes regarding sub-divisions and consolidations, review of state reports and monthly reconciliation reports, statutory requirements and deadlines, and review/updating of bid specifications for billing.
The candidate must be detail oriented, accurate, self-directed and able to maintain the strictest confidentiality when necessary. Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills with a friendly and professional demeanor. Familiarity with H & L Software and Microsoft Office is preferred.
A minimum of two years of experience with municipal tax collection required. A current, valid Tax Collector’s certificate required.

Bookkeeper FINANCE DEPT BOOKKEEPER – STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, (Ocean County) is seeking a full time, qualified Bookkeeper for its municipal Finance Dept. A minimum of 3 years of local government experience is required. Experience and knowledge of bookkeeping and basic municipal accounting and budgeting practices and procedures pertaining to NJ local government. Responsibilities include maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, bank reconciliations, processing of purchase orders and bill payment. A proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office are required. Experience with Edmunds accounting software is preferred. Salary range is $21.85-$28.51 per hour DOQ.
