CERTIFIED TAX COLLECTOR (Full-Time) - NEWTON, (Sussex County), a Faulkner Act-Council Manager municipality is seeking a full-time NJ Certified Tax Collector (CTC) to perform all statutory duties of said role.Specific Responsibilities: Responsible for the oversight of the bookkeeping, calculation, and accounting functions to comply with state law and municipal directives in the collection of property taxes; Calculation, preparation, and mailing of tax bills; Initiating and refunding overpayments; Serves as Tax Search Officer; Administering and enforcing statutory tax laws; Tax sales and other mandated responsibilities for 2,600+ tax line items and sewer rent items; Supervises the receipt, reconciliation, deposit and recording of all cash received to special account ledgers, tax lien ledger, foreclosed property ledgers, and delinquent ledgers; Quarterly delinquent notices for both taxes and water and sewer utility; Consults with Tax Assessor, CFO and Town Manager regarding tax appeals; Coordinates the receipt and dissemination of information with both county and state tax boards; Responsible for notifications relating to Homestead Rebates, Tenant Rebates, etc.; This role also acts in the capacity of cashier, accepting payments for tax and water/sewer utility bills, zoning, construction and municipal pool; Oversees Parking Enforcement financial operations and staff; Supervises the administrative and clerical functions of the tax and utility employees; Other duties as assigned by Town Manager. Specific Requirements: Current/Valid holder of a Certified Municipal Tax Collector’s Certificate issued by the NJ Department of Community Affairs; A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a CTC or combined 7 years as an assistant or deputy tax collector; Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written as well as strong customer service focus; Proficient in Microsoft Office; including Word, Excel, and Outlook; Knowledge of MSI is preferred; Excellent organizational and problem solving skills; Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team?. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. TAX COLLECTOR/ASSISTANT TREASURER – BOONTON TOWN (Morris County). Full-time opportunity for an individual that possesses a certification issued by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs to perform all statutory duties of Tax Collector.  Responsibilities include oversight of all aspects of municipal collection of property taxes including the preparation and disbursement of tax bills as well as conducting tax sales for taxes, utility and other miscellaneous items.  Additional responsibilities include the filing of the annual veteran/senior citizen report to the County Board of Taxation, the collection and processing of all Water and Sewer bills and assisting the Chief Financial Officer on all matters related to finance.
